The event was beautifully organised by Shona Fraser and Jacqui Roehrig in the capable company of a large team of helpers at Oldefields and dressage judge Dawn Fleming. We thank everyone for their help and participation.

I have updated the series standings and you can download them at the following MS Excel link. We have three classes each with two sections and the current leaders are Charlotte Bodega, Nicky West, Mia Okuyama, Jaimi Roehrig, Lucy Butler and Charlotte Fleming. The scoring was initially a plain average of scores including zeroes (for an event at which a rider did not compete) but that would have un-necessarily marked down a good rider who cannot do every event. We have therefore established rankings on the average of the the points the rider scored when they competed plus a 1 percentage point bonus to incentivise riders to compete in as many rounds as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me with comments or errors… marcus@bicknell.com.

Sunday 6th March at Oldefields

Sunday 13th March at Grove Farm

Sunday 27th March at Highclere

You can enter any of the first three events from today 13 November up to four days before each event using the entry form linked here:

Entry form in MS Word which you can fill out and return by email, or

Entry form in pdf which you can print out and return by post

The entry form states “All competitors must hack to the event, i.e. it’s a series for riders local to Hodgemoor. Horsebox or trailer parking is not provided as most of the yards do not have winter facilities.” Your committee was keen to provide events in winter when there are few others, even though members whose yard is too far away might not be able to compete… if you are one of these, we offer you our commiserations and remind you that Riding Out With Hodgemoor (see Facebook for dates) and the Hodgemoor Le Trec (Easter Monday) are available to box to.

The Hodgemoor Winter Dressage Series permits the some relaxation of rules on attire because of hacking to the event(s), winter weather and the equipment available to new young riders. Safety equipment like helmets must be conform to British Dressage security standards. Please read our pdf note at hodgemoor_attire_winter_dressage

Xmas dressage Sunday 20th December 2020 at Waylands

The British Equestrian Federation confirmed on 27 November that “ In all tiers, all equestrian facilities, yards and centres can open for lessons, hire and competitions. Horse owners and guardians can travel to care and exercise horses without restriction including travelling horses away from the yard for exercise, training/lessons, hire or competition”, we are going ahead with our Christmas Dressage on Sunday 20th December.

Please download schedule on dressage_waylands_20dec2020 … it is in MS-Word so you can fill it out and email it back to susie@hodgemoor.org.uk.

We are very grateful to Lana Craker for allowing us to use her indoor school. Please note the Covid-19 instructions on the schedule.

As usual, we would be grateful for help on the day. As it may be cold, having helpers in shifts avoids anyone getting too cold! Because of Covid-19, we will need more help than usual for stewarding: checking each entrant and their companion as they arrive, noting on a list that they have made their Covid-19 declaration, making sure not more than 3 riders in the warm-up arena at a time, collecting score sheets from the judge and taking to the office and making certain each dressed up entrant has had their photo taken for the competition.  i.e. are there any good photographers out there? We would love it if you volunteered. And, of course, someone to add up the score sheets! Please contact susie@hodgemoor.org.uk if you can. We know that you are not quite as busy as usual before this Covid-19-influenced Christmas and could maybe spare the time.
